Call me a nerd, a geek, whatever, but I love books. No program on my computer could ever replace what it’s like to hold an actual book in my hands. What makes it even better is that I have been given the opportunity to not only have access to books but to be able to read and understand its content.
A book is one of the most selfless object that exist today. It doesn’t demand any electricity or power, it simply requires a shelf–and what it gives in return for being cared for outweighs any sort of “inconvenience” its physical presence may cause.
It doesn’t ask for payments or a favour in exchange for the knowledge you gain. It doesn’t have any monthly fees (unless you got yourself a book fine on your hands) and its pages has probably seen countless readers and fingertips that have sifted through its contents.
A book could symbolize a moment, an era, an emotion, even something life-changing.
A book is an opportunity. Perhaps a traditional form of learning but nonetheless a significant player in knowledge expansion and seeking–do not disregard their offering, you would be putting yourself at a disadvantage.
